AT WORLD’S END, the final installment in the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN trilogy, finds Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow and his beloved Black Pearl confined to Davy Jones’s locker, while a guilt-ridden Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) and a conflicted Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) join forces with the mysterious Tia Dalma (Naomie Harris) and a back-from-the-dead Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) to retrieve him. Meanwhile, the East India Trading Company’s Lord Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander) uses his power over Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) to tighten his control over the seas, threatening to bring an end to piracy everywhere …. The complex conclusion to the POTC saga entered theaters around the world on Memorial Day weekend 2007 and eventually earned $961,000,000 worldwide, making PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: AT WORLD'S END not only the highest-grossing film, worldwide, of 2007, but also the 5th highest-grossing movie of all time.

"Playing Captain Jack Sparrow is, without question, the most fun I've had playing a character," Johnny Depp told MovieSurfers in 2007. "[Y]ou can essentially do anything and get away with it. Everyone dreams of that, don't they?" Certainly there's no denying the appeal of the rakish Captain Sparrow: "Jack is the one we all want to be," Geoffrey Rush told Starz in a behind-the-scenes interview. "I think that's why Jack has become such a potent and fascinating character for people from eight to eighty."

Our gallery attempts to capture some of Captain Jack's endless variety: we show him in contemplation and in action, merry and sad, worried and valiant, but always possessed of his charismatic authority--a legend of the seas, a man for whom one would go to hell and back.
