Ah I never thought of that because it came on that it was only ten minutes old and it was on the 2nd of April! So I guess I have to try and accept Johnny as Grindelwald then? Plus I have this niggling feeling he is not going to do the sequel (I don't know why) and concentrate on projects such as McAfee thing ...humiliatedgrape wrote:It was an April Fools joke

His appearance in Fantastic Beasts was very short, but in those couple of minutes I felt like he began to nail down the character with his eyes. He doesn't often play an evil character, I think this will be a good thing for him.Raven_Rock wrote:Ah I never thought of that because it came on that it was only ten minutes old and it was on the 2nd of April! And with that short performance he has set the bar hasn't he? I Guess nobody else will be able to do the character in his way now ...nebraska wrote:His appearance in Fantastic Beasts was very short, but in those couple of minutes I felt like he began to nail down the character with his eyes. Good news, welcome Tony#3!
As for my recent posts about Rowling having had interest in Tim Burton and Terry Gilliam as directors, well, that may not be in the cards, but between her and Yates, they found the one actor in Johnny who brings the same kind of outside the box dreaming aesthetic as those aforementioned directors would, so that's something...
Plus it would be interesting to see Johnny and Jude have scenes together.

Thanks ibbi, Jude is a good actor. Glad that the article confirms that Johnny will still be in the sequel, there were murmurs that perhaps they wouldn't cast him due to the recent bad publicity.

Will Jude Law's Dumbledore be openly gay?
The news that Jude Law is to play a young Dumbledore in the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them has led to speculation over the direction of the movie - and whether his character will be openly gay.
It's 10 years since JK Rowling revealed that Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore was gay in a Q&A with fans.
It confirmed speculation that had been around on fan sites for years - all that was known before that was that he had a mysterious, troubled past.
Rowling also revealed that when he was young, Dumbledore had been smitten with rival Gellert Grindelwald, who he beat in a duel. Dumbledore was "horribly, terribly let down" she said, and his love for Grindelwald was his "great tragedy".
We already know Johnny Depp will play Grindelwald in the movie, so many fans are hoping to see Depp and Law in an on-screen romance.

This is going to be good. I always thought he'd make a good JK Rowling character.

Yes, me too
Johnny's quite magical all the time just being himself, so he should have no problem playing a great wizard either good or bad
I had hoped, that Hogwarts would have a American guest teacher at some point. But this is great too

Re: FANTASTIC BEASTS: THE CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD Updates
I finally got around to seeing this. I enjoyed it, it was well executed. Yates does a fine job, but I can certainly see why Rowling looked at Burton and Gilliam in the past for this sort of material, and I'm still not convinced that Yates is the only director for it. One of the strongest performances I've seen from Colin Farrell. Maybe somebody can help me with a major plot question, which I'll put in spoilers:
