I have the idea, that the mainstream media in the US is both afraid of going up against the #metoo movement, and definitely do not like either to admit out in the open, that a "big, strong Man" can get abused.
The last part probably make the men at the top uneasy, when they think about it :)
And I admire Johnny more than I can express for being brave enough to tell the truth anyway!

The thing to draw comfort from is that the mainstream media is dying anyway as it struggles with the rise of social media. So good that so many are commenting on this with a bit more information. Also keep in mind the Daily Mail is the most read news ie celebrity news source in the world. Very very smart move whoever put the tapes there. In the UK The Mirror is also a mainstream tabloid source and big rival to The Sun. I have a feeling that many of the news outlets are waiting for a definitive judgement from one of the two court cases ie Virginia or London. I am hoping and praying that The Sun can’t get another delay and that they settle with a great big front page apology.

AdeleAgain - We should all hope that the mainstream media does not die or we will be in a whole lot of trouble considering the person who is currently the President in the US. In the case of Johnny - they unfortunately believed her because she took advantage of the Me-Too movement. They are waiting for the case to be resolved as a result. They don't want to backtrack now only (they think) to have to re-track once again, so they are evidently just staying put. Johnny will win-out in the end. We just have to be patient and keep supporting him.

I agree. Mainstream media has egg on their face. They are taking the sideline until conclusion of a legal case

Not all media is taking to the sidelines. But some, deservedly, are sporting more egg than others this morning.

I don’t know where on the media spectrum Variety generally falls - perhaps somewhere between mainstream and tabloid. In my opinion, it is an irresponsible, bottom-of-the-barrel rag led by spineless creatures who have, more obviously than most of its kind, sold every ounce of credibility they may have been clinging to since the ZFF.

It was Variety’s out-of-the-box, before-the-credits-finished-rolling October, 2018, pummeling review of “The Professor” (aka “Richard Says Goodbye”) that set the stage for the film’s demise. The word was out and all the cowards followed in lockstep. This beautiful film never recovered in the US., except in some of our hearts.

Old news? Well, Variety has actually stooped to a new low last night by no longer remaining neutral especially in light of the past week’s audio tape releases. Last night “The Independent Spirit Awards” gala (not merely a pre-Oscar party) was held, a prestigious annual “blue carpet” event that routinely precedes the Oscars. This year Variety’s Marc Malkin, Senior Film Awards editor as well as Event and Lifestyle editor saw to it that Variety broke ranks with on-the-fence celebrity/fashion rags of its ilk by giving “silence” a new dimension.

Not only was AH invited to the event (which, of course, she attended), she was given the full course welcome and was photographed and videotaped on the Blue Carpet as though she actually had contributed something meaningful to warrant her presence. There was also a short video of her leaving the dining area at one point, looking pretty annoyed.

None of these visuals, so prominent on Variety’s TWITTER page last night, are anywhere on the site this morning BUT some (no videos, nor pics of her sitting presumably alone at a dining table nor her angry exit) can be found at the Getty link below.

No excuses. Variety/Mr. Malkin could have - and should have - rescinded the invitation. Ultimately, she was nothing but a huge embarrassment.

I was really surprised Daily Mail released and is still talking about the recordings to I give them kudos for that. However, they are still blocking comments. I tried five times to post my opinion but they would not release it. Now that she reared her ugly head out again at pre-Oscar parties people can comment on some of the sites that are posting her picture and get the word out about the recordings. :pirategunshot:

Thanks for posting this video. I watched it quite a few times and that guy cracks me up. I especially like the part about him labeling Amber as a psychotic gold digging POS.

I also liked what he said about the Depp fans at 2:04 and what he wants to see happen to her career at 2:26. :harhar:

I caught the video of her leaving the dining area. It looked like someone off camera called her attention, said or gestured something, and her expression switched from a smile to the death stare. meeps, I share your thoughts too. ;-)

Still no decision from Judge White re: AH’s demurrer, but nine more subpoenas have been issued:
(Link to Fairfax County Gov. below; you know the drill)

* Note: Re: the Disney subpoena, on p. 22 of 25, #6 is a request for “All documents concerning any decision to cast or not cast Mr. Depp in any future Pirates of the Caribbean films.” DECISION not DISCUSSION, I think that’s good.

In the California court, where Johnny's team filed to quash 40+ subpoenas, the hearings still stand starting Feb 24.

But the judge ordered AH Team to redraft all the subpoenas to be more limited and focused. Its possible Depp team approved these rewrites or they are going to move forward quashing these. Its inevitable they would be going after all this. Note, these are only for documents. Now the trial is so far out, they have more discovery time. So they will probably do depositions after they've had a chance to go through the documents.

Here is the Judge's order for the redrafts

For me at least, this very well-written article addresses a lot of the continuing and - unbelievably - newly emerging injustice surrounding JD despite the seemingly obvious, incontrovertible truths exposed the last two weeks in the recently released audio tapes.

Thank you, thank you to Vocal Media, Orchid Black (the author), and Lbock, on whose Twitter page it was posted.

Thank you again to Vocal Media, Orchid Black, Lbock, and your post justintime! :thankyou:

It's about time SOMEONE spoke up about this unbelievable injustice the 'media' is perpetrating against Johnny Depp!! Amber Heard pops up in 2016 with :censored: lies about Johnny abusing her and the media goes nuts!! Now, we get this audio of Amber Heard admitting to starting the physical violence with Johnny Depp, in her own words, and what do we get from the so-called media? *crickets*

I have been happy to see comments from people cancelling Amber Heard, but I am really seeing the true colors of the media! What? Are they so above us all or so audacious that they cannot admit that they jumped on the bandwagon of 'believe all women' with No Proof and printed Lies?! Lies about Johnny Depp, when he was standing there saying that he was innocent? What about due process? Innocent until PROVEN GUILTY?!!

Also, what IS IT with this woman that she just goes around partying at the awards as if Nothing Has Happened?!! WHO DOES THAT?!

Well, I have read, that Ms Heard is a fan of Ayn Rand who among other things advocated, that ...
Rational egoism (also called rational selfishness) is the principle that an action is rational if and only if it maximizes one's self-interest. The view is a normative form of egoism. It is distinct from psychological egoism (according to which people are motivated only to act in their own self-interest) and ethical egoism (that moral agents ought only to do what is in their own self-interest).
And:
Ethical egoism is the normative ethical position that moral agents ought to act in their own self-interest. It differs from psychological egoism, which claims that people can only act in their self-interest. Ethical egoism also differs from rational egoism, which holds that it is rational to act in one's self-interest. Ethical egoism holds, therefore, that actions whose consequences will benefit the doer can be considered ethical in this sense.

Ethical egoism contrasts with ethical altruism, which holds that moral agents have an obligation to help others. Egoism and altruism both contrast with ethical utilitarianism, which holds that a moral agent should treat one's self (also known as the subject) with no higher regard than one has for others (as egoism does, by elevating self-interests and "the self" to a status not granted to others). But it also holds that one is not obligated to sacrifice one's own interests (as altruism does) to help others' interests, so long as one's own interests (i.e. one's own desires or well-being) are substantially equivalent to the others' interests and well-being, but he has the choice to do so.
I have the two quotes from this article: and that: And if Ms Heard really subscribe to that kind of philosophy, then she probably can't see anything wrong in showing up at an Oscar party, when she gets invited ...
