:loveshower: Wonderful news! :loveshower:

:balloons: :yahoo: The Zone's 2010 Birthday Project to benefit Save the Children's work in Haiti :twohearts: has now raised $4,000! :applause2: :yahoo:

:balloons: That's amazing! :balloons:

Many thanks to everyone who has sent a donation, especially those who have given since my last update. :thanks!:

You are really helping the children of Haiti as well as telling Johnny Depp :happybday:, and I hope that brings you joy and satisfaction.

I am always amazed at the generosity of the Zone community, but particularly so in a tough year like this when so many members are struggling financially.

Many thanks :bouquet: to all our donors! You're fantastic! :worldhug:

We still have 4 days until Johnny's birthday, so if you haven't given to the Birthday Project yet, there's still time. What better way to tell Johnny :happybday: and show him how much we appreciate him?

When exactly is the cutoff? I already donated. but I'd like to kick in a little more but I don't get paid until Thursday night (actually direct deposit shows up after midnight on Thursday). Too late?

Hmm. Normally we wait a day or two past Johnny's birthday to allow for those Zoners who meant to give on June 9th, but some event in real life intervened and they didn't get the chance . . . there are always a few people every year who email us on the 10th and say, "Can I still give?" And of course we say yes.

In deference to all the people who get paid on Fridays, perhaps this year it makes sense to keep the Birthday Project open until Friday night, to allow for last-minute additions from the newly-paid. Would that help?

I think it's a great idea, PtP. I can only do a little bit more, but I'm really hoping we get to $5,000!

I think we have a very good chance of reaching $5,000, Kate! :hope: We have our fingers crossed!

:worldhug:

And a lot of the total comes from $5 or $10 gifts from donors. When we put them all together, they make magic.

One of the things I love about the Birthday Project is that most of us who donate could never hope to give $5,000 to a charity like Save the Children on our own. It's just not possible; we don't have the funds. But when we send them our donation, we all feel the joy of having given $5,000. That's very special, and something I look forward to every year.

Many thanks to those who donated to the Birthday Project overnight and early this morning. :thanks!:

We are getting very close to $5,000 now. :applause2:

I think it is already Johnny's birthday in Japan :japan: because of the way the international date line works . . . maybe an expert can tell me if that's so? Is it already June 9th in some parts of the world?

If it is, :balloons:

I've just checked the world time server and it is now 3:13 a.m. in Japan.

I want to say thank you to all those in front of and behind the scenes in making the Zone Birthday Project happen, especially Theresa for posting all the information about the charity and it's work in Haiti, and to PtP for keeping track and posting updates on the project's monetary progress.

Kudos to all the Zoners that were able to donate this year. I'm proud to be able to participate in such a project in honor of Johnny.
