How to quote only a part of message?
Hey!! I was wondering how to quote someone & not include a picture that is part of their post?? I read that we shouldn't quote someone's pix, since we've already seen them. That makes sense, but I don't know how to respond?? Thank you!! -CJ-

Re: How to quote only a part of message??
I'm sure there's some clever method, but all I do is highlight the text I want to respond to, hit CTRL+C on the keyboard to copy the text to the clipboard, start the reply on the Zone. Then I hit 'quote' on the toolbar above the reply box, which puts the cursor between 'quote, unquote' then hit CTRL+V on the keyboard. Looks like this:

It's best to put 'Moonbeam said' above the quote, especially if the post is way back, so people know who you are responding to. As inI was wondering how to quote someone & not include a picture

Polly_anna -- you can also put the person's name right in the quote box where it looks like it does when you do an automatic quote.
When you paste your quote into your reply message and put the "quote" code around it, then in the first [ quote ] add an equal sign and the person's name in quotation marks like this --

Code: Select all
blah-blah-blah
Re: How to quote only a part of message??
moonbeam -- if all you're trying to do is NOT quote the embedded picture, you can just do a regular quote of the person's post and then just delete the image link, or you can change the [ img ] and [ /img ] in the quoted link to [ link ] and [ /link ]. That will turn the quoted picture into a Click here to open in a new window. link.

Re: How to quote only a part of message?
I find the easiest to me is to just hit quote and delete what I don't want. I am totally lost with cut and past to this and then do than and then hit something else....
I have nothing to do and all day to do it in.

In the original email, highlight the portion of the message that you want to quote in your reply using the cursor. Press Ctrl + C on a Windows computer or Command + C on a Mac to copy the selected text. Position the cursor in the reply email where you want the quoted material to appear.Theresa wrote: ↑Wed Oct 08, 2008 10:29 amPolly_anna -- you can also put the person's name right in the quote box where it looks like it does when you do an automatic quote.
