Unread post by eps » Wed Jul 01, 2009 9:59 am

I do not know if I am posting this in the right place, but I just received this e-mail to my home e-mail address.

Dear Friends:

On behalf of Johnny Deep Birthday Project and the San Jorge Children’s Foundation we want to sincerely thank you for your donation to benefit our children.

I commend you for this demonstration of your commitment to aid the San Jorge Children’s Foundation in helping economically disadvantaged of Puerto Rico children access health care treatments and services such as surgery, cancer treatments, anesthesia, laboratory, radiology studies, supplies, and equipment; just to name a few. Your donation helps us make a difference thereby strengthening our foundation.

Our Board of Directors and especially our children’s thank you very much.

Cordially yours,

Sonia M. Carrasquillo
Executive Director

I received one, too. It was a very nice gesture. (Did anyone notice that they misspelled Johnny's last name? )

Yes, I noticed they spelled Deep instead of Depp. Cute.

What a sweet thing to send out though! Nice to know they appreciated our efforts in honor of Johnny :heart2:

Mine, too. But that doesn´t matter. What does matter is that we was able to make a small difference to the life of those children with our donation. It´s very sweet of them to send us a Thank you e-mail. :heart2:

Thanks for telling me that!
Because of the misspelling and the garbling in the title (it is because my computer doesn't have Spanis encode, I guess), I thought it was a spam until I read this thread.
Now, I rescued the e-mail from the spam folder and saved it properly. :chill: :thanks!:
Keep breathing.
Keep moving forward.
Be happy.

Ah, I have the answer to why you are receiving the emails, I think.

In order to keep track of the donations to the Birthday Project, we have a spreadsheet that lists the donations to the Paypal account, as well as any that we are advised of that are made by check. I always include that list of the individual donations when I send the big check with the Paypal proceeds to our charity-of-choice, since that check represents the gifts of many, many people. I want the charity to see where the money comes from.

The Paypal donations list the email address of the donor--in some cases, the email address is the only means of identification we have for the giver. Someone at the Foundation must have painstakingly gone through the fifteen pages of our spreadsheet and sent a thank-you message to all the email addresses listed there . . . which, even with the misspellings, is very, very sweet (and to the best of my knowledge, they are the first Birthday Project charity to bother to do that. Other charities have written one letter to "the Zone," sent it to me, and that suffices).

I recommend printing out a copy of the email and saving it with your tax receipts, since 100% of your donation is tax deductible--it all goes to benefit the children. As part of my donation to each year's Birthday Project, I always make up the Paypal fees out of my own pocket, so that every cent you donate goes directly to the children.

I received one too. A very nice thing for them to do. At first I thought it was spam because the start of the message was in Spanish. Then I noticed it also said Johnny Depp Birthday thank you. Glad I didn't spam it.

How very kind and generous of you Part-time Poet.... organizing the project is quite a daunting undertaking in and of itself, but to absorb the Paypal fees as well, is truly commendable.

God bless you... may your generosity be returned tenfold. :smiliewithhearts:
