2008 Birthday Project hits $4,200--project ends Monday!

Unread post by part-time poet » Wed Jun 04, 2008 3:14 pm

:balloons: Just a reminder that we have less than a week left until Johnny's birthday . . . June 9th is Monday, :cake: and the Birthday Project will be wrapping up its work for the year and submitting the proceeds to the American Family Children's Hospital shortly thereafter.

So if you want to make a donation, now's the time!

If you make your gift directly to the hospital (see directions on another thread on this forum), please let Theresa know so we can add your gift to our total.

:flashingheart: We have currently raised more than $4,200 . . . a wonderful gift in a time when so many Zoners are facing big financial challenges (like filling the gas tank and buying food :-/ ). Your generosity is truly inspirational.

But we're not done yet!

We still have a few days left before Johnny's birthday, so if you have Johnny on your mind--maybe from the MTV Movie Awards--a small donation to the 2008 Birthday Project would be a sweet way to say :thanks!: to JD for the happiness he has brought into our lives.

I would like to sincerely thank the Zone for creating this project that I happily contributed to and I love what someone said to the effect of each dollar represents something Johnny has given to all of us...
Thank you Zone for everything.....I feel honored to be part of this birthday project for our heroic, humble, "slient, exiled, cunning" brilliant, gorgeous, need I go on...Johnny....I could say 3200 more spectacular things  about him...
It's man devouring man my dear..then who are we to deny it in here?

Thanks for the update PTP, that's fantastic news, glad it's still climbing, every bit counts towards this wonderful cause in honour of a wonderful man!

Oh yes ! :cloud9:

It looks hopeful for a very nice total amount. If Johnny can hit 45... I guess we can !

Great way to think AnaMaria...I would love to match his birthday number!! Although we may have to ask him to stop growing !!

I wonder if he knows this is going on??? Maybe someone saw it on the thread and mentioned it to him?? I am sure he is totally humbled and extremely grateful, that during this difficult time financially for all of us, he will be bowled over, whatever amount is raised. Johnny doesn't forget what its like to have to scrape by on little...he probably shakes his head...and says...how do they do it ???

Because you Johnny are a great inspiration to others....

When strapped with such things as filling my gas tank and buying food -- or worse -- I always remember what my Mom used to say when I was a kid: "No matter how bad off we are" (and we were) "there is always someone else somewhere who is worse off than us."

No matter how small the donation, she always donated. At least it was something.

Just a thought for those sitting on the fence . . .

Norrington: "Oh Dear."

It's always amazing what we can do together. Thanks for setting up the project, it's a great choice!

Would like to add my thanks to those that made this project possible. As a child, I spent far too long in hospitals and infact was in one consulting with a surgeon for more of just this morning!? In the seventies (when I was a long term patient) we had an occassional play therapist and our school teachers still came up to help us keep up with work but there really wasn't anything in the way of offering relief for parents or anything that made young patients feel like kids. What this gift will make possible is priceless and is so keeping with who Johnny is. Thanks to all from one who's been there done that.

Well, Johnny has been on my mind so a few more dollars were just added to the Birthday Project by me.

Thanks for putting this altogether. This is quite an outstanding amount to raise and wonderful to see everyone pull together for such a worthwhile cause in honour of a wonderful guy!

I think a lot of us were caught by surprise to realize Johnny's birthday is so close . . . it's like, "Is it June already? How did that happen?" :perplexed:

Many thanks :bouquet: to all who saw this thread and donated to the project yesterday. You are all

Cheers!
