They literally tried to blackmail him to drop the suit with pictures that they are suggesting are Johnny abusing drugs. Johnny knew and said NO to a protective order. He is going to live his truth whatever it is but includes he did not abuse her. I think the judge saw through this by not giving the blanket order. Glad Chew was able to get in the reminder that she admitted in public the op ed was about him. (Might have been referring to the Dutch interview she did when she was there with the UN event)

:thanks!: for posting that, Justintime!

Ben Chew: "And they've made no showing of significant harm to Ms. Heard. They've shown what they're going to do to Mr. Depp. Well, he can take that. He's been taking it for years, Your Honor."

So, we'll be "treated" to these photos of JD any minute now to further her abuse of him? :ohno: Well, her turn is coming and she asked for it. Not only did it sound like they were trying to bully him before this hearing with the pictures, they're obviously trying to silence Johnny's "fanatical" supporters on social media. Good job, people :parrot: Imagine getting upset at the way Johnny's been cruelly judged and villified! Nice to see Judge White had Judymac's back saying that court-related dates for depositions, etc., are publicly available.

Kaplan sounds like quite the elitist, complaining about being sent a twitter message by someone with only 10 followers - "the gall of that nobody to voice an opinion." Quite like her bed-soiling, arrogant client. Don't think Judge White is fond of her.

Also Ben Chew: Samantha Klein, Johnny Depp's attorney in the underlying divorce case, said there was no protective order then "because Ms. Heard wanted the publicity." :bouquet:

I noticed when she complained to the judge about the tweets she has received, she neglected to open with “after myself and my entire team tweeted about how proud we were to represent Amber Heard ....”

And when her lawyer mentions about reading that Amber now is being accused of cutting his finger off with a machete...I’m pretty sure her lawyer got her mixed with Amber Portwood teen mom who went after her boyfriend with a machete. And also got several points wrong on the divorce timeline. This lawyer doesn’t seem to know who her client is :no2:

So Kaplan doesn't like the comments on social media about Amber or about her representing Amber. WAWAWAWA!!!
:bawl:

Here is what I took from the transcript, for whatever it's worth.

1. I think she owes the NY courts an apology because in her introduction she basically said their courts were dirty, compared to VA.
2. Amber is not a "famous celebrity." Most people don't even know who she is.
3. Her team is absolutely reading twitters, fan sites and facebook pages.
4. The photos they showed at the proceeding were an attempt at blackmail. What they are really afraid of are exposing the photos Amber has of her body.
5. Kaplan didn't know the subpoenas for depositions were posted on the court's website???
6. Amber has medical records (including a psychiatrist) that they want protected.
7. They referred to the "craziness" out there which obviously means us and I think we deserve an apology too.
8. Kaplan has no idea why Amber is called a gold digger. Maybe she should take a look at the demand letter her lawyer sent to his in the divorce which also referenced the alleged abuse and she would clearly see how Amber got the name "gold digger." You know....the letter where she was willing to settle "all matters" if Johnny gave into her demands. He said no, and then she went and filed the dv charge and sold a picture to the media instead of taking it to the police. The same picture she refused to turn over the digital copy. This is in addition to the fact that if he had said yes to her demands, she never would have filed the dv charge and all this would not be happening right now.
9. Kaplan said that nobody wants photos out there yet Amber attached a whole bunch to her declaration and, "Let the horse out of the barn." I loved that statement from the judge and that Benjamin Chew brought that up. :biglaugh:

I am guessing there will be many more motions to come from her side until the judge sets a deadline.

Could the pic she's worried about be the one where she's holding the To My Beloved Tonto Man sign?
If not, the she must have some real doozies that she's afraid will be released. Too late now, her reputation is mud.
This judge is a no nonsense kind of judge and Benjamin Chew is a seasoned professional.

Another mistake by Kaplan. She doesn’t know who her client is apparently. The machete incident is about Amber Portwood going after her boyfriend. Johnny’s finger was sliced by a vodka bottle.

Good point but that pic has already been all over the internet. I am guessing she has pics of herself around the time when she says she was abused, like maybe the party at Eliz. Martz's house the next day or other times.

Documenting her lovers' behaviors is her modus operandi? Is that why that awful Musk continues to help her?

Just to clarify: the pdf Dropbox link was on the indefatigable Brian McPherson’s Twitter page with the comment, “Interesting read. Discuss.” We seem to be doing as Mr. McPherson hoped!

I think the most appropriate comment made thus far is that Ms. Kaplan is woefully unprepared for this multifaceted case, its potential to broaden equity in DV cases where men are the victims, and the enormous world-wide public interest it has generated given JD’s involvement. She seems to be relying to a fault on the notoriety her prior “accomplishments” (pointedly taking care to reference arguing a case before the Supreme Court) bestowed upon her, and perhaps most egregiously, has apparently taken her vile, arrogant client’s self-portrayal as gospel rather than doing her own unbiased due diligence before jumping into the fray.

In a matter of mere hours, Ms. Kaplan has: shown her willingness to bully/blackmail her adversary before the Hearing even started; peppered her presentation with half-truths and convenient manipulations of the truth; been taken aback by the obviously unexpected persuasiveness, intensity, and on-target observations of JD’s supporters; shown a disturbingly cavalier and blatant unfamiliarity with critical event sequencing (e.g. extortion letter precipitated the deserved “gold-digger” labeling; when did the diary make its initial appearance?); demonstrated that, while unfortunately, she seems well-paired with her unscrupulous client, is fortunately no match for the quick, succinct opposition. Thank you, Mr. Chew.

Finally, yes, “He (Mr. Depp) can take it. He’s been taking it for years.” It’s true, but he has four more months of this relentless onslaught to endure, and other stressful litigations still to be resolved. I am worried about about him.

I absolutely agree with you, RubyBegonia - awful Musk; what a squirrely character he seems. I remember a pap shot of him and AH leaving an establishment together; he seemed a bit sullen and was sporting, what appeared to be, a bruised cheek. Not much notice taken at the time, but it was a surprise to see. Maybe nothing.

Looks like our Judymac is famous...

I see she was quoted in the court documents on pages 9-10 from this Zone thread (page 101).

Good because I think Kaplan did that on purpose hoping it would stop the wrath that is coming down on Amber but now it's just going to get worse.

So I am just trying to go through the logic of this.

AH's side want privacy over the evidence etc. So they show JD's side a picture which has nothing to do with the case but which he probably doesn't want out there.

There are lots more pictures - but surely if these pictures help her case she would want them out as soon as possible in a bid to force him to settle or drop?

The only logical conclusion is that she knows there must be some really awful stuff to come. We haven't heard from all of the 31 witnesses or seen all of the surveillance video.

And since showing the picture was clearly designed to intimidate him into submission you have to ask - is that the best she can do?

I do think that may have been Kaplan’s initial motivation, ForeverYoung, but she is so unbelievably unprepared!

She doesn’t know the half of what evil her client is capable - or worse, she does and is limping along, humoring her. She certainly doesn’t know the kind of decent man Johnny is or the inner strength that continues to fuel his determination to “never stop” until all is set right by the truth. And she apparently came on board eager for the publicity she thought certain would be overwhelmingly positive, arrogantly convinced her TimesUp notoriety would pave the way for pulling a few tried and true hat tricks to derail the other side, at the gate. Well, she has shown the world that, for all her supposed litigational expertise, she doesn’t know squat about this case, not even enough to get to square one. Blackmail or anything that reeks of its scent is AH’s calling card - she’s a master and collateral damage is never a consideration, not even when it’s her own teammates that wind up in the dust.

At the moment, the backlash against AH is tsunami-like in intensity. It’s like light has dawned! Everyone can see what she’s done THIS TIME, and are (finally) connecting the dots to see the scope of what she HAS done, and what she is continuing TO DO, to an obviously innocent man (not to mention the impact on true DV survivors, regardless of gender). Curiously, all the not-quite-rags that have relentlessly and viciously condemned JD over the last four years under their phony cloaks of journalistic righteousness (Variety, THR, Deadline, The Guardian, Forbes, etc.) have been dead silent. Even the DM has been laying low on this topic. And so they all should. Perhaps going forward they can each see their way clear to saving face with truth, shy their disturbing personal bias and interpretations, for a change.

Thank you Mr. Waldman and Mr Chew. Keep pulling, cut them no slack, and sleep with one eye open at all times!
