The parties do no appear in appeals matters. There is a panel of judges which decide the case and appeals cases can go on for at least two years.
I thought her lawyer said she didn't have the money for the judgement, so how does she have the judgment money to put up the bond for the appeal? I really don't think insurance would be paying for any of the legal fees in this appeal either. My guess is that she is STILL trying to save her rep. but that ship has long sailed. She is looking at a HUGE expense in legal fees and right now she has no work.

The defendant has been in the Hamptons. Apparently, her ACLU contact lives there. She has "friends" in low places. Musk, Murdock, ACLU, someone has put up the bond. We knew she would do this, so it is no surprise. She wishes to extend her 15 minutes of fame. She needs JD to stay relevant in the headlines. Her stans & PR team are attacking everyone. (Barlow, Proudman, Taft & Dauber). Now that the unsealed documents are unsealed & can be published, over 3300 pages, the internet journalist will be going over everything with a fine tooth comb, debunking all of the trash coming from the defense. Everyone who has supported JD- family, friends, "relatives" and warriors are under attack. The defendant is trying to silence the truth and regain her so called reputation. Trying to salvage what career she had. It will be interesting to see how long WB & LOREAL will keep her on board. Time will tell.

Barlow, Proudman, Taft & Dauber- all low lives who live to attack JD fans because they can't handle that she lost. They live to support an admitted abuser and that's a really sad way to live. With every posting they do makes them look like they are scraping the bottom of a barrell to throw scum around at people but it only makes them look like the that is on the bottom of the barrell they are living in.Granna wrote: ↑Thu Jul 21, 2022 2:48 pmThe defendant has been in the Hamptons. NO! She does not get a new trial because she does not like the results. It does not work that way. She previously filed motions in Judge A's court, which she lost. This is an appeal that will be heard by an Appellate Court. Litigants have the legal right to appeal and it is very common for the losing side to appeal. This was expected and it is the next step in the legal process. Her appeal will probably be a lot of the same stuff that was in her motions. She has to have legal grounds for a new trial not the same garbage. There is no reason to panic or be upset.bringmethathorizon wrote: ↑Thu Jul 21, 2022 12:55 pmDang Does this mean another trial to put Johnny through or can his lawyers take care of it all ?? Forever Young is correct, the parties do not appear in the Appellate Court, the appeal does not have anything to do with the parties. The appeal has to be based on legal mistakes For example, Judge A made a mistake or there was juror misconduct.
There is always a losing side in every trial. If they awarded retrials every time someone did not like a verdict, they would never ever settle any case.

Thank you, ForeverYoung and Judymac, for tossing some sensible, calming thoughts our way. I can’t even think of Johnny having to contend with anymore disruption to his life from that callous piece of humanity.

According to this statement, AH intends to use First Amendment, Anti-SLAPP arguments to overturn the verdict. But as the verdict itself shows, this was not freedom of speech, it was defamation, and lies simply aren’t covered.Statement from Amber Heard on Notice of Appeal:
“We believe the court made errors that prevented a just and fair verdict consistent with the First Amendment”
Via Angenette Levy @Angenette5 (twitter)
I had thought she had Anti-SLAPP motions in anyway, and they could only proceed if she had won (or am I confused on this)?
I could be wrong, but I would be very surprised if her appeal gets off the ground.

The channel I was watching live were lawyers and they were all saying the ex's team were prepping for an appeal all along by asking that certain objections and transcripts be put on the record. They knew they were going to lose.
