Re: The Lawsuits Thread
I just hope that Johnny wasn't led astray by the new financial managers, that they aren't the ones that manipulated him for their own ends. I get the feeling that he's pretty gullible as far as that goes. This isn't looking good for his side. It sounds like the newer law firm wants to distance themselves from the case now that they've looked over its merits. I've been worrying about this for some time.

Re: The Lawsuits Thread
One thing as I remember, this lawsuit was all precipitated by the fact that TMG filed a non judicial foreclosure on his Sweetzer properties. After Ed White informed him of his financial standings and past practices, Depp was pretty much forced to go public with a lawsuit to save his houses. I am sure that was the last thing he wanted to do, anything public, not to mention right after the abuse and divorce stuff
So why did the lawyers all leave, especially the newest so fast....Frankly we don’t know and I’m going to send positive thoughts that what is meant to be will be and he connects with lawyers who have the expertise he needs.

Re: The Lawsuits Thread
So all these lawyers suddenly discovered he has no case after a year and 3 months of his lawsuit? I feel they are being scared by some powerful people into backing down.
Never forget. Never forgive.

Re: The Lawsuits Thread
Just ran across this that Alan Waldman is going to have to meeting with the judiciary committee regarding a client with ties to Putin. That may take up some of his time.

Re: The Lawsuits Thread
Interesting, Lbock. Thanks for posting.
It would appear Mr. Waldman has long since honed his ability to walk and chew gum simultaneously. If he withdraws from Johnny’s case it certainly won’t be due to time constraints or committee meetings, although now a seemingly valid (and, to be sure, an all-around face-saving) excuse has been posed.
Time for Mr. Waldman to demonstrate what he’s made of. However impressive the 2009 Russian connection might seem to be, the ramifications of winning the salient points of Johnny’s 2018 case could be precedent setting for future manager/client relationships, not to mention financially devastating to innumerable existing “handshake agreements.” Money, lots of it, is in play. And that’s always unpredictable, frequently tricky, and occasionally dangerous, to livelihoods if not lives.

Re: The Lawsuits Thread
I think according to what is posted and on the lacourt.org case summary, he has withdrawn. Currently JD has no legal representation on record. I doubt the hearing went forward that was scheduled for today.justintime wrote:Interesting, Lbock. Thanks for posting.

Re: The Lawsuits Thread
Can’t really express how upsetting this quagmire has become. I have to wonder how long Johnny has been privy to this Waldman development and how it might impact him. During all those photo shoots and commercial productions he made some poignant comments (e.g. the “Have the courage to never abandon yourself.”, to his pointedly modified definition of a man: “. . . . fighting against any injustice. . . on the small day to day level or a huge, grand scale. . . To go in the world as yourself when there is nothing else . . .”). Waldman was officially informed in February, 2018, but surely it is not being too cynical to assume he’d been made aware of the situation well before the ball actually dropped. Perhaps Johnny is better prepared than we know, perhaps taking pics of sharks is actually relaxing at this point in his life, perhaps I am grasping at anything that will allow realistic grounds for hope.Lbock wrote: I think according to what is posted and on the lacourt.org case summary, he has withdrawn. Bottomline for me, with all my heart, I wish him every ounce of the physical and emotional strength he may need to triumph over the vipers snapping at his heels.

Re: The Lawsuits Thread
I also only conveyed that lawyer information here. Please don’t share opening in social media. I don’t see how it can do JD any help. But I know that has never been an issue here, among us all we support and protect JD privacy first and foremost.
I can’t know or assume anything going on behind the scenes. It’s shocking that new legal team left so abruptly, but I’m sure he’ll find someone else. Ed White is still also part of the cross complaint, so he won’t abandon JD. Waldman May be able to return when he knows what is all involved. It was so long ago, maybe just a simple interview and fact check.

Re: The Lawsuits Thread
I wouldn't worry about the lack of lawyers at the moment. I learned something very important about lawyers earlier this year when my company had a legal issue - first two sets of lawyers we approached just were right, didn't get what we needed. They were reputable but not what we needed - and someone said to me, don't worry we just find the lawyers that are right for us. And we did. And Johnny will too. Keep remembering - we don't actually know what the heck is going on.

I totally agree with you. This is the way the US legal system works. It is like a chess match and changing lawyers is just part of the chess match.Ade wrote:I wouldn't worry about the lack of lawyers at the moment. I believe Johnny will be just fine no matter how the court case mess turns out!

Re: The Lawsuits Thread
Well, my son is an attorney and I tried asking him about this situation and he just sort of raised his eyebrows and shook his head. He said something sounds messed up. But, it's not our business, I guess and we just have to be hopeful he has it under control.Judymac wrote:I totally agree with you. This is the way the US legal system works. Re: The Lawsuits Thread
I had a thought about this today which may explain what's going on. A while back it was reported that federal authorities had become interested in the investigation. That can be both good and bad - good in that it shows the merit of the case; but the possible complication is that if the financial advisers are under investigation by government authorities this will take precedence over any civil dispute. Lawyers in cases like these work on success fees. If the authorities are involved - the lawyers success fees are a very long way in the future - if the civil case even goes ahead after a criminal one.
It is just a theory but it might explain the reluctance of lawyers to take the case on; and also why relatively speaking there hasn't been that much news coverage - just a few articles.

Re: The Lawsuits Thread
I saw a document recently and Adam Waldman is still listed as his lawyer. Not the main one...Kanny and chew were and then Mona, who we know is leaving. But Adam is from Washington DC so they must need a California law firm to lead.
