CITY OF LIES (LAbyrinth) Updates

Unread post by AdeleAgain » Sat Mar 20, 2021 6:22 pm

So well said Justintime.

I have heard a number of (not hostile) people opine "why has he gone this legal route, he was still getting work....."

Yes but he wanted to at least try to put a stop to this. This hasn't suddenly happened, it's been happening since 2016.

The only difference now is that the critics/journalists/few remaining idiots say it.

The general public does not. They've heard the tapes. They've heard about the s*** in the bed. And now they've heard about the lies over donations.

We must try to remember that this film will come onto streaming services quickly as is the way now with all films, and people will see it and enjoy it and discuss police corruption etc. So job done.

And I love the fact that even though they have to get in their digs, even the nasty brigade say it is a good film.

It must have killed them to have to write this: but, middle of a pandemic so limited release, no fanfare or premiere - and not at all bad. And do remember the main event is this will be streaming:

There have been many reasons for this film to be bounced around.
1. Bankruptcy of the film studio and a buyout of its properties
2. Pressure from LAPD and other entities about the content of the film
3. Other distribution issues (It has been released in other countries and is on DVD)
4. Various political situations from the last 4 years, including COVID
5. The assault lawsuit involving Johnny, which included the director and studio at one point.

It was the bankruptcy of the film company and subsequent legal dispute with creditors. Stephen was pretty clear in his message.

Video ~ CITY OF LIES New Trailer 2021

Unread post by justintime » Wed Mar 31, 2021 12:59 pm

Does anyone know: When City of Lies becomes available via streaming and on demand - April 9th - does that mean a region 1 or all-region DVD (that will play here on U.S. machines without damaging them or the DVD) will then be available for purchase?

Many thanks!

Thanks a million, SnoopyDances! :rosegirl:
I have it all set up on Amazon Prime for viewing tonight. Can’t wait ... maybe it’ll rain and I’ll have an excuse to watch it this afternoon...and AGAIN, tonight!

Looks like it is the number one film on major digital platforms - brilliant news and if you were in any doubts over genuine support for him, this is just simply a fantastic answer. And remember this is in the US where apparently - according to all those well informed journalists - the audience doesn't love him anymore (they have to grudgingly concede rest of the world is a different story).

If you haven't see this, Brad Furman talking about him - sounds like they had some interesting debate and JD listens to and trusts his directors.
