Devotion ~ Question #4 Awareness
Too much to describe. I'm home in my library, and every book is one I've read and "need" to keep. There are two walls 15' long by 12' high with books, and another with books and things. The things are all freighted with memories. Just one object: an antique silver filigree fingernail guard. I didn'...

Devotion ~ Question #3 Reading
Reading as a hobby is fairly new to me, but I'm enjoying it. I joined several book clubs in order to gain some insight on writers, books, and stories that were outside my normal reading material. I do have a Nook which is very handy for traveling...doesn't take up too much space and is fairly light....

Devotion ~ Question #2 Journals
No journals here, either.
I had those little diaries when I was a kid and that made realize what a dull life I had.
I've never kept a diary or journal since.

Devotion ~ Question #1 Inspiration
I'm finding inspiration very difficult to come by these days so I was interested to see everyone's answers. There are many things I enjoy, but those don't necessarily inspire me to action or maybe they do and I don't realize it. I love music :elvis: more for mood than inspiration. I play different g...

Devotion ~ Question #5 The Vision
"Fate has a hand but is not the hand. I was looking for something and found something else, the trailer of a film. Moved by a sonorous though alien voice, words poured. I went on a journey lured by a jukebox of lights conjuring a symphony of reference points. I threaded a world that was not even my...

Devotion ~ Question #4 Awareness
"From the sole window a view of the garden below. Displayed in a case are books of Simone Weil's, posthumously published under his direction…On the mantle is the clock that Saint-Exupery had presented to his grandfather. We descend worn marble stairs, pass through the blue salon, and enter the gard...

Devotion ~ Question #3 Reading
"I desperately scan the room as if searching for a lifeline in a deep marsh. Among a small pile of unread books atop my flat files are Francine du Plessix Grays's monograph on Simone Weil and Modiano's Pedigree, with the astonished face of the author on the cover. " (Devotion p. 8) Patti chooses so...

Devotion ~ Question #2 Journals
"My French publisher has arranged a week of book-related events that include speaking to journalists about writing. My notebook remains untouched. A writer who isn't writing going to talk with journalists about writing." (Devotion p. 7) :noodlemantra: Do you keep a journal or diary or notebook? Wha...

Devotion ~ Question #1 Inspiration
:snoopydances: Let the discussion begin! :ONBC: “Inspiration is the unforeseen quantity, the muse that assails at the hidden hour. The arrows fly and one is unaware of being struck, and that a host of unrelated catalysts have joined clandestinely to form a system of its own, rendering one with the v...

Tidbit #10 - Albert Camus: Notes and Connections
Another interesting person and writer.
Thanks for shining light on this part of our story.
I wonder if Patti was channeling his and Maria’s love affair for Eugenia and Alexander.

Devotion - Tidbit #7 The Short Story
I used to love short stories because I didn't have the patience to read anything longer. Now that I'm older (a LOT older), I can read novels much more better. Perhaps I should give the newer short stories a try, too.

Devotion ~ Tidbit #8 Eugenia's Road Trip
Wow! Talk about a whirlwind tour! I will be savoring travel videos for day as I work my way through their itinerary. I hope you enjoyed the videos. :hatsoff: It can be difficult to find an informative and professional video of top tourist spots now that everyone has a camera. Some I watched ...

Devotion - Tidbit #9 - The Space to Write
:agreesign: Very interesting, indeed. I don't think I could :writer2: in a busy restaurant, like Patti and others. I have found I can :noodlemantra: in the restaurant at slow times. One, I feel guilty for taking up space in a :eat: to just read, so I go after the busy lunch hour. Two: Reading slows ...
