ONBC: It would be interesting to hear what you thought of Ben Cross's portrayal of Barnabas on the nighttime series.

Kathryn: I have never watched the series. I was working out of the country and never saw it.

The only thing that matters is the ending. It's the most important part of the story.

Funny, as much as I love watching Dark Shadows, I never watched the nighttime version. I guess, to me, Jonathan Frid was Barnabas. Period.

Um....until now, that is.

I did see a couple of episodes, it just didn't seem "right" somehow, but Johnny's Barnabas is all right with me

The 1991 series was totally off my radar. I had no idea. But back then, TV for me consisted of Sesame Street and Barney  . I had no clue about 21 Jump Street either.

I saw parts of the original soap in the late 60s. Never knew there was a 90s version. Only saw the entire soap in reruns in the 90s. I have looked at bits and pieces of this 90s version years later and wasn't impressed.

Here's the promo for what looks like the pilot. It gives you a feel for it.

Never knew about the 90s series until I got cable and they started showing it recently. Not impressed.

There was just something new and different about it in the 60s. My brother and I were much (much!) younger and really just like the fact that it had vampires, werewolves and witches. We couldn't tell you any of the plot lines. It was just different from everything else. :cape:

I have watched the 90s series on you tube, but since I never watched the 60s version I didn't have anything to compare it to, so I enjoyed it.
