After a rather bumpy road to get there, we’ve just been informed by Disney that their new joint venture with Jerry Bruckheimer ‘The Lone Ranger’ has gone into production today. The movie is set to be directed by Gore Verbinski and stars Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale and Helena Bonham Carter.
The script is penned by Ted Elliott & Terry Rossio of “Pirates of the Caribbean,” Eric Aronson and Justin Haythe.

More as we get it but the full info is below for your viewing pleasure. Excited to see this one but that’s probably just because it’s a ‘Jerry’ movie. Please let it be better than Prince of Persia and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice!

(February 27, 2012) — Production has commenced on location in New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado on Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ epic adventure “The Lone Ranger.” The film reunites the filmmaking team of the first three “Pirates of the Caribbean” blockbusters—producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski—with Johnny Depp, who created Captain Jack Sparrow in his iconic, Academy Award®-nominated performance and contributed the voice of the title character of Verbinski’s Academy Award-winning “Rango.”

Depp plays spirit warrior Tonto in “The Lone Ranger,” with Armie Hammer (“The Social Network,” “J. Edgar”) starring in the title role. 'Lone Ranger' adds to cast
O'Leary, Treadaway, Brown, Rippy join pic

Disney has found four more thesps to round out the cast of its Gore Verbinski-helmed actioner "The Lone Ranger."

Matt O'Leary and Harry Treadaway will play members of Butch Cavendish's gang, and W. Earl Brown and Leon Rippy have also joined the cast.

O'Leary most recently wrapped Rick Rosenthal's "Drones" and stars in Matthew Lillard's directorial debut "Fat Kid Rules the World" and Megan Griffith's "Eden," the latter two of which will preem at South by Southwest.

Brown currently appears in HBO's "Luck," while Treadaway appeared in Gil Kenan's 2008 fantasy "City of Ember." Rippy co-stars in Fox's "Alcatraz."

Thesps join stars Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in the pic, penned by scribes Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, and Justin Haythe.

Film is currently lensing and skedded for release on May 31, 2013.
