Over the years, Johnny's characters have had some intetesting love intetests. Although some were more convincing then others. Some of my favoirites were:

1. Sam and Joon-I just thought they were so cute together :cloud9: . The two outsiders who find comfort in each other. A beautiful love story.

2. Jack and Elizabeth-I know they weren't exactly a couple but they did have some serious chemistry. Who could ever forget that cursoity scene :flamed: ?

3. J.M. Barrie and Sylvia-Although technically they never got together, you could just feel how much they cared for each other, even in just their glances. The love that could never be but was :twohearts: .

What are your favorites?

I agree with Sam and Joon as the best. My next favorite is Gilbert Grape and Becky I think her name was? Oh, and Edward Scissorhands and Ed Wood...they were good couples :cloud9:
I don't care for Cap'n Jack and Miss Swann...I hate when she sends him to his doom :bawl: but she is properly sorry in AWE, so that does give her a tad bit of redemption..Oh and not to forget ST and Mrs. L! What a pair they were indeed!

I really like Roux and Vianne, brief though it was.

I have a feeling I will really love Dillinger and Billie.

On the positive side, Gilbert and Becki because she makes him see..she helps him see the larger perspective that is the World outside his font door.

Also on the positive side, Roux and Vianne, they see each other and understand..they are magic.

On the darker side...Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett..but her love for him is so unrequitted it hurts sometimes, but she really really had it bad, the love for him....

I think Roux and Vianne will have to top my list as my favorite couple.

I also count Cesar and Susie among my top favorites. :twohearts:

And, odd as this may sound, another big favorite of mine is Captain Jack and The Black Pearl. Or, Captain Jack and the Sea. The sea and the boat kind of need each other, so maybe I ought to count them as one. But, you get the idea.

Great idea for a topic!

Johnny is such a great actor, and such a likeable guy, that he could really have great chemistry with just about anybody, if you ask me...But personally, Jack and Lizzie will always be #1, to me.

Yeah, it's true that they were never really a "couple", persay, but all of their scenes together were absolute perfection!

For my #2, I would have to go left-field on this one, and go for Edward and Kim. I mean, Johnny and Winona were actually together while this movie was being filmed, so how could they NOT be great together?

You know, I have to be honest. When I think of great "couples on screen" none of Johnny's movies or performances come to mind. This is possibly because I focus so much on Johnny's character that I don't see him as part of an on-screen "couple". I think his pairing with Susie, Elizabeth, etc are very good...but not great (as in "coupledom".) I do think the one exception to this is whoever mentioned Captain Jack and the Sea. The Sea is certainly his mistress...and possibly the only "woman" worthy of equal billing. Or, I could go even farther and say "Captain Jack and Freedom".

Maybe I'm not explaining this very well. Or maybe it's just that I can't take my eyes off Johnny when he's onscreen.

I considered saying Captain Jack and Freedom, when I wrote that. He does say that "what the Black Pearl really is, is freedom." He also says that his "first and only love is the sea." But, in the toss up, the one with the visible point is the one that won out . . .

I agree with Sylvia & JM Barrie. This is a very tragic romance.

I also like Sam & Joon. So sweet

I love the repetroire between Elizabeth and Jack as well. Even though they never were a couple - they were fun.

Edward and Kim. Timeless fairy tale couple. :heart2:

There are some other couples that work well because they capture the dynamics of the relationship

Like George and Myra in Blow - you can see that George is completely blown away by her and yet you know it is so explosive a relationship that it will end in grief

Then I love the few moments we see of the real Spencer with Jillian that really seems to work but we didn't see enough of it!

However my favourite, that tears me apart every time, is the Brave's Raphael and Rita.

Roux & Vianne.

J.M. Barrie & Sylvia.

I really wish we had more to choose from. Maybe Public Enemies will add some romantic love to the list.

What a great topic indeed!

I'd have to go with Sweeney Todd and Mrs Lovett for my first choice.
I love the tragedy there.

J.M Barrie and Sylvia is a lovely couple. Again, they never really happened. I love the tragedy's! :tear:

Captain Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth are quite a nice couple. Now,they actually happpened! :-P In a way. I just love the chemistry they have.

:heart2:

Lovely topic but my choices have to be:-

First three ;-)

1 Benny and Joon

2 Gilbert and Becky

3 Edward and Kim

Second three ;-)

1 Roux and Vianne

2 Caesar and Susie

3 Raphael and Rita

Sorry but the decision is so hard that I have to say Cap'n Jack and Lizzy too :toastingpirates:

I'm still waiting...Raphael and Rita is the closest it comes. Need to apologize for the severity of my statement. Of course, there have been many "loving" moments. I might be waiting for something a little more "romantic" with great chemistry. O.K., 'nuff said!!
