I love the idea, that where ever Johnny films, we can help to make sure a little bit of him stays behind. That's the idea, Kitty--we chose the Children's Hospice in California when Johnny was filming AWE; GOSH in London when Johnny was filming Sweeney Todd; the American Family Children's Hospital in Wisconsin last year, when Johnny was filming Public Enemies, and now San Jorge in Puerto Rico for The Rum Diary.
It helps give each year a special flavor, and it's a nice way to thank the community that was, however briefly, Johnny's home.

What a lovely birthday gift for Johnny! Of course I will donate and participate in the celebration of Johnny's special day. Thanks to the Zone for making it possible to show love and admiration to a very special man--Johnny Depp. Hope he has a lovely day and knows a lot of love is coming his way through this project. Thanks again for all you do for Johnny and his fans.

When I followed the link given in part-time poet's announcement and I clicked to look at pictures of the hospital, I got a warning that the website was a "reported attack site", one that steals personal information. I certainly hope that was an error!

I certainly hope that was an error! Every now and then I've gotten that warning, too, nebraska. I've scanned the site through all my antivirus and spyware programs...and there just doesn't seem to be anything there to warrant that warning.

donnamatrix wrote: Is this tax deductible? Sorry if it was already mentioned--I looked but didn't see. This is a tax-deductible charity, donnamatrix. If you require a receipt for tax purposes, you'll need to mail your donation directly to the Foundation's address.
Although we do keep a list of who has given and what amount, it's for the purpose of keeping a very accurate record so every cent will be accounted for when we send the donation to the Foundation. We won't be sending out receipts with the Paypal donations.

I use PayPal all the time and I believe it's very safe -- but perhaps if they were willing, you could get your parents to mail a check directly to the Foundation address instead of using PayPal?

MovieFan wrote: I really really want to give a doantion, but how do I convince my parents the PayPal site is safe ? Tell your parents, that I have been using Paypal for years. I don't know if this will help. But Paypal keeps the person paying on paypal separate from the receiver of the payment. Neither ever sees the payment information from the other person. You pay into a Paypal account; they pay the receiver of the payment. Neither the payer or the person recieving the payment sees the account information of the other. Thus there is NO chance of identity theft in the transaction. It is far more secure than a check or credit card transaction or any other on-line transaction. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice Theresa and shadowydog. I'm sure we'll be able to work something out.

Thanks to the administrators for once again organizing this wonderful opportunity to give to those who need our help and generosity the most - innocent children stricken with illness. I am sure Johnny is as proud of you all as we are.
