How to quote only a part of message?

Unread postby Moonbeam » Wed Oct 08, 2008 9:38 am

Hey!! I was wondering how to quote someone & not include a picture that is part of their post?? I read that we shouldn't quote someone's pix, since we've already seen them. That makes sense, but I don't know how to respond?? Thank you!! -CJ-

I'm sure there's some clever method, but all I do is highlight the text I want to respond to, hit CTRL+C on the keyboard to copy the text to the clipboard, start the reply on the Zone. Then I hit 'quote' on the toolbar above the reply box, which puts the cursor between 'quote, unquote' then hit CTRL+V on the keyboard. Looks like this:

It's best to put 'Moonbeam said' above the quote, especially if the post is way back, so people know who you are responding to. As in

Polly_anna -- you can also put the person's name right in the quote box where it looks like it does when you do an automatic quote.

When you paste your quote into your reply message and put the "quote" code around it, then in the first [ quote ] add an equal sign and the person's name in quotation marks like this --

Code: Select all
blah-blah-blah
It will look like this when you post your message --
moonbeam wrote: blah-blah-blah

moonbeam -- if all you're trying to do is NOT quote the embedded picture, you can just do a regular quote of the person's post and then just delete the image link, or you can change the [ img ] and [ /img ] in the quoted link to [ link ] and [ /link ]. That will turn the quoted picture into a Click here to open in a new window. link.

I find the easiest to me is to just hit quote and delete what I don't want. I am totally lost with cut and past to this and then do than and then hit something else.... :freaked:
I have nothing to do and all day to do it in.
