I agree with all these answers. Business can be ruthless, pitiless, and merciless as fansmom points out. I think it just goes back to what Johnny said about Hollywood, the industry is a business and little room exist for art. It comes down to sink or swim with show business.

I'm not sure I totally agree with the "no room for art". I think back on all the movies I have watched in my lifetime an I have seen some visual and artistic masterpieces. Perhaps the problem today is that the major studios are owned by corporations that view them as cash cows and not art. But I still think art is still possible in the movie industry.
I have nothing to do and all day to do it in.

I agree, shadowdydog. It just seems like there aren't as many these days and the bottom line has become more the rule.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -
