As you’ve probably already heard, Daniel Depp’s sequel to Loser’s Town will be available on August 3.

Below is a description from Mysteries to Die For in Thousand Oaks, CA:

Former Hollywood stuntman and current PI David Spandau is back on the entertainment scene when he is hired to guard Anna Mayhew. The aging Oscar winner and former tabloid headline sensation has captured the attention of a really disturbed stalker. She also needs protection as she is serving as a judge at the Cannes film festival using the opportunity to jumpstart her flagging career. Depp excels in his descriptions of the glitz and glamour of Cannes based on his considerable inside Hollywood knowledge that lends a sly charm to this clever casefile.

ONBC will be discussing Babylon Nights following A Transatlantic Love Affair. We expect to begin tidbits mid-November and begin the discussion in January 2011.

Daniel will be appearing at various book stores. I have listed the appearances of which we are aware. I imagine there will be more. We will post them here as we become aware of them.

Hurray! So glad to hear that Spandau is back. I haven't been able to be on the Zone nearly as much as I used to be able to, so I wasn't even aware that it was coming out so soon. I'm looking forward to it!

When I checked Amazon.com for Babylon Nights - they offered 2 books. One to be released Aug. 3 and the other Aug. 5. I was wondering why and if they were different. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Hi ladylinn.

Well, that is very confusing indeed. And when talking to the 2nd Amazon customer service person (yeah, I called twice because the first person gave me bad info :banghead: ) I believe the one you want is the one with the cover on this thread. It is this ISBN because that is the ISBN on the Simon & Schuster website (his publisher):

ISBN-10: 1439101469

Just make sure that you are ordering the hardback (unless you want the kindle). The hardback is $16.20. The kindle is $10.99.

I believe that the correct release date is August 3 based on the S&S site.

Hope that helps.

Now this is weird, I've just visited the website in the UK where I buy my books and it's got several different versions in both hardback and paperback. When I read your post Liz I checked it out thinking the green covered book was the paperback version which is why they are sold on separate dates and have different covers. Having just checked I see that the book you've got featured on this thread is the 3rd August release which is hardback and 352 pages but the one on the 5th August is only 336 pages and both hardback and paperback so there's obviously a slight difference. Not sure what that difference is though.

Oh and the publication date for the one featured on this thread is dated for 1st August over here.

Confused? You should be.

Thank's for the link In-too -Depp. :hatsoff:
I usually order from Amazon or the Dutch Bol.com but it might
be interesting to order from this company.
I see that they have free delivery to the Netherlands.
Maybe they will be cheaper than Bol.com.
I can't compare yet because Bol.com doesn't have the book on their site yet. :-/

Very odd.

I just called my local indie book store. I was told that the ISBN for the book with the green cover is not listed for that title. They will be selling the ISBN for the book I listed above. They actually have the long number (which is also on the S&S site):

ISBN-13: 9781439101469

The green cover has 2 different numbers than the one on the S&S site. Could it be that the green one was an advance copy that got pulled? Something to ask Daniel at his book signing.

So to reiterate, the 2 correct ISBNs (which come from the publisher) are:

ISBN-10: 1439101469
ISBN-13: 9781439101469

Okay I've taken a look at the publishers site and the paperback book with the green cover that I mentioned above is on sale and does have the same ISBN as the one mentioned on the site I use in the UK.

It's cheaper on the site I use and has free P&P for quite a few European countries.

The book you feature is the longer hardback edition of 352 pages which isn't featured on the publishers website but is being sold on the site I use.

I've gotten dizzy just trying to search all that out. :-) Strange that it isn't on the publishers website but is available elsewhere.

If you want to make yourself even dizzier I've checked the Amazon UK site and they don't have a price set on it for themselves but they do have one used copy for £48.65 :-O

I-t-D, it seems you've discovered the difference.

This is the S&S UK site:

This is the S&S US site:

Seems it is the difference between the book released in the UK vs. the book released in the US.

Thanks Liz, I suspected that it was a case of different countries having different codes but didn't see the S&S site in the US. Glad we've got that sorted now.

And I didn't see the one in the UK.

It is good that we have such an international representation here which can help solve such mysteries.

:thanks!: I-t-D!

Thanks I-t-D and Liz for your sleuthing on this. Mr. Spandau would be proud!

Well, I was a little confused as to why IngridN was buying her books from a gin distiller, but I guess Bol and Bols are two different things.
