OTR QUESTION #24

Sal and Dean are always looking to get their “kicks”. What is the significance of “kicks”?
You can't judge a book by its cover.

The only thing that matters is the ending. It's the most important part of the story.

Kicks:

Fun? To escape the boredom of everyday life and responsibility? To run amock without stopping to breath. To party.

I need more coffee. The motor in my head is only sputtering.

It reminds me of the quote that one of the posters uses as her signature (I'm sorry, can't remember who). Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but by by the times your breath is take away - George Carlin. It's maybe not an accurate quote, but you get the gist. I view life in the same way. I call them champagne moments, the times when you know you have lived, as oppposed to merely existed. They don't have to be huge moments, just stand-out ones. I think this may be what the line may be referring to.

It seems that Sal and Dean want to expierence life at its deepest and find the meaning in everything around them. I think "kicks" are their way of going out and finding what that moment in time has to offer and trying to live it to the fullest. Very Johnny wouldn't you say?

:nana: YIKES! It's the Banana King!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -
Wow! What a ride!

Don't shoot the moderator, but I took it to mean anything that is spur of the moment fun, without regard to consequences.

That was my impression. Seeing what they could stir up. Like, whatever happens, happens.
