I'm glad to know it wasn't just me, Liz. I guess it being rescheduled is okay.... I just hope that it didn't air already and we missed it. :bawl:

Uh oh, looks like the info was a little dated. The original airing date for this on PBS seems to have been Feb. 2002. Sorry gang. I looked at the PBS American Experience schedule and nothing about the show was listed. So, not even a repeat is airing. I found a site where you can purchase the DVD if you're interested:

http://www.shoppbs.org/sm-pbs-american- ... 38416.html

Here's the IMDb information on the show:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0511743/

Bummer, I was looking forward to seeing this. This PBS series is usually well done, so the DVD may be worth owning. If someone finds out new/different info on this show, please let us know.

Oh, I am so disappointed. I guess I will just have to go back to reading my new book titled "John Dillinger"by Dary Matera. It also starts with JD's birth and childhood and I thought that this show was maybe based on this book. Guess not.

I just looked this up on Netflex and I think they have every other episode of "The American Experience" but I couldn't find that one.
Too bad, I wish we could have gotten our hands on it.

There are 4 PBS stations in the Los Angeles area and none of them are listing it. :bawl:

It shows on the PBS home page but when I go to my local station it's not there. Did anyone else have any luck with the dvd?

Wow! What a ride!

It's on Amazon for $30. Didn't see any used copies available. Just for fun you might check out "Dillinger," the 1973 film with Warren Oates as Dillinger. He's really great and it's a terrific movie. Highly inaccurate historically, but who cares. Also stars Harry Dean Stanton, Richard Dreyfuss, Ben Johnson, Michele Phillips, Cloris Leachman, and many others.

Excellent, Lucky13! We’ll look forward to that. :bounce:
You can't judge a book by its cover.

The only thing that matters is the ending. It's the most important part of the story.

The "American Experience" was GREAT, allthough only 60 minutes in length ( I wish it would have continued).

It is narrated by actual "family" members.......

.... as well as other historians, and from their enthusiasm, they truly enjoyed all the research involved in making this documentary.

Some of the footage was similar to that seen in the Public Enemies documentary seen on the History Channel, however, this focused predominantly on Dillinger. There was mention of Bonnie and Clyde, but not as in depth as was seen in that footage.

I would definitely keep a "weather eye" to see if it airs again.... I truly enjoyed it !!!!
