The History Channel - 18 Months of Mayhem

Unread postby DeppInTheHeartOfTexas » Sun Jan 06, 2008 11:31 pm

Thanks to an alert from KYwoman I just watched a great show on The History Channel called 18 Months of Mayhem that deals with the time period of our current read, Public Enemies. While it doesn't focus on all the characters in Public Enemies, Dillinger is prominently featured. The show basically follows the premise of Public Enemies and Bryan Burrough is interviewed throughout the show. Below is a synopsis of the show and the times it will be rebroadcast according to info given on The History Channel website. Very well done! Thanks KYwoman for the heads up!

John Dillinger, Machine Gun Kelly, Baby Face Nelson, and Bonnie and Clyde are some of the most notorious criminals of the last century. Technological advances like the Tommy Gun, V-8 engines with electric starters, and bulletproof vests often gave the robbers the advantage over the police. A spree of robberies, killings and kidnappings during an 18-month period from 1933 to 1934 shook the nation to its core. The government responded with a war on crime that began with America's first national police force and the rise of the FBI. HD location photography, archival footage and evocative recreations are used to transport the viewer back to this era and to capture the hectic pace of this crime wave.

Glad as always to oblige my friends and neighbors DITHOT, but it was another alert Depp-head that gave me the heads up. So, my thanks to her!

It was a well done show and seems like it would be a great supplement to the PE book. I highly recommend it.

A friend taped it for me last night. I, also, hope to watch it today.
And, thanks for the heads-up about it, DITHOT and KYwoman!!

The edge … there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. HST
