And I'd love Johnny to take the role of Balashov.

Oh I like that choice, too! And if not Anna, then Katya.
You can't judge a book by its cover.

The only thing that matters is the ending. It's the most important part of the story.

Sorry to have been AWOL today, Noodlemantras. I was having some technical challenges in cypberspace today... :banghead: You all really have some great choices! I am terrible at the casting questions so I'm not going to make many suggestions. I keep trying to work Tim Robbins in there...Mutz? Visnjic I can see as Balashov, actually. Keep the ideas coming!

This is fun, reading all the different casting ideas. I've been looking up some of the actors I didn't know. I really liked these choices:

Shaman - Gary Oldman
Albino - Ben Wishaw
Anna's Mom - Mary Steenburgen
Bondarenko - Alan Rickman

I thought of another possibility for Nekovar - Christian Slater.

I'm still debating some of the other suggestions in my mind.

I love Alan Rickman in the Harry Potter movies.......would love to take a look at anything he had to offer.

I don't usually go to/watch movies that Johnny isn't in, so I am totally unable to cast any of the roles except to say that Johnny could have a field day playing any one of them!

I think Rachel Weisz is a good idea for Anna. I'm not sure some of the ideas are taking into account the ages of the characters.
I'm sure the Albino is quite a young character in his teens. and Aloysha is less than 10 or around that age, so no Freddie Highmore for him but maybe he would be right for the Albino.
Matula's age is even stated in the book as being 26 I'm sure, but definatley mid twenties.
