Red Shoes, I often post late as well. I guess late is better than never.
I agree with your points and don't have much to add. I think perhaps he does change his mind at the end. He stops presenting them as caricatures, I think, and sees that they still search for meaning and consolation. And when he refers to her life, it certainly isn't a caricature, but "worth more than anything".

I just want to add that there is no such thing as "late" here at ONBC. You are welcome to answer any question at any time! Sometimes it takes a few days, or weeks, for the old gray matter to soak up all you have read. We are just really happy to have so many from different countries participate! :bounce:
