I like the comparison to a cat, db. My second favorite Sweeney is Hearn and he is definitely more bull-like and bullying. One scene we don't see in the movie is when Sweeney refuses to give Mrs. Lovett her share of the profits, he has been keeping the books. In fact I believe he tells her she owes him money. That Sweeney is much more controlling and less subtle and introverted.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -
Wow! What a ride!
