Other than SBD, Christine was my favorite character. She and SBD were both outsiders… refugees. She had no illusions about Sebastian’s character (or lack of it) and when they finally coupled, they made love instead of having sex. There was a sadness that clung to her like Dublin’s never ending drizzle, but she and SBD were both survivors.

Probably not adding anything new here, but...
It was hard to get to know the other characters since the story was told from S's point of view, but I liked Chris & Mary. They seemed a little more "in control" of their situations.

I agree, PhD. Although their situations were certainly less than wonderful, Chris and Mary didn't seem to become complete victims of Sebastian.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -
