Birthday Project Update--we have now passed $3,000! Hurray!

Unread post by part-time poet » Mon May 28, 2012 2:05 pm

Here's a quick update on our 2012 Birthday Project fundraising . . .

the Zone has now received more than $3,000 in donations for Project Pueblo!

That's wonderful! :loveshower: Thank you so much to all our donors. :bouquet:

We have now collected enough money to provide two water systems for Navajo families (cost approximately $1,500 each)!

:worldhug: and :highfive: to everyone who has contributed to this project. You are a great inspiration, showing what we can do when we work together.

It would be fantastic if we could help another family . . . the donations mount up quickly when we pool our gifts. We have less than two weeks to Johnny's birthday, so keep Project Pueblo in mind, won't you? Every little bit helps.

This is absolutely wonderful! Just think, we've gone and raised enough money to provide for TWO families. What a thing to consider -- water at home, water when you need it. No more hauling heavy containers in all kinds of weather, and running out at the worst moment.

I'm thinking about that scene in "The Brave" when Rafael is having to haul water from the stream so his kids can have a bath. Do you remember it? This is what these families have had to deal with. You really can't ever haul what you need, you know? There's never enough containers, never enough time.

And now there is, because of us. :goodvibes:

Okay, so we dig Depp some more, in the hopes we can help reach three or four or five families.

I grew up in a rural area where the wells would run dry in the summers and my father would have to haul water; so I know what not being able to turn on a faucet is like. I am so happy we have chosen this project. :bouquet: :truefan:

Remember, it's not just hauling water from a stream or well for these people...it's hauling uranium-contaminated water from those streams and wells.

That's fabulously fantastically spectacular that we've reached $3000! I'm still looking for the instructions on how to donate because I truly want to even though I can't really afford it, but this is such a worthy cause there's no way I won't.
Yes, I thought of The Brave/Raphael from the first minute I started reading about this back on Day One when PTP and Theresa first posted about this birthday project. It's SO fitting for that reason alone, much less the tie-in to the movie that Johnny's working on now, and the area it's taking place in.
It's just so mind-boggling, sad and awful that they have to drink uranium-contaminated water! The fact that that's actually happening in this country, of all countries, is outrageous and unthinkable, to say the very very least.

:highfive: :-) That's good to know, since mine won't be anywhere near as big as I want it to be. :-/
