Regarding the Pharaoh who believed in the "One God"...that was Akhenaton. "Aton" was the Sun God, and Ahkenaton (who was the father of Tutankahmon) moved his entire capital city to Amarna, out in the desert, to worship his god better. Not surprisingly, the temple priests hated him.

After Akhenaton's death, his son reverted to the older religion and the many gods. Amarna was abandoned. You can still see the ruins today.

Ahkenaton was known as "the Heretic Pharaoh." His cartouche (his name in hieroglyphs) was removed from public buildings, his image was effaced, and his deeds erased from many of the official records.

Hope that's helpful!

Thanks, Ann! Welcome back! :bigwave:
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -
Wow! What a ride!
