From GQ, an interview with Armie Hammer. One cute comment about getting ready to be the Lone Ranger...

Next up is The Lone Ranger, with Johnny Depp as Tonto. Have you been practising with the mask?

Yes It's creeping my wife out.

:biglaugh: That's funny Theresa. It must be quite interesting to live with an actor.

These are lots of fun tidbits to know as the process progresses - thanks to all of you who bring them to the thread. :flower:

Dwight Yoakam Bows Out Of ‘The Lone Ranger’

By MIKE FLEMING
Deadline
Friday February 17, 2012 @ 1:31pm EST

EXCLUSIVE: Even though Disney scrapped a fall start date for The Lone Ranger, and then green lit the film for a smid-February start date once director Gore Verbinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer brought a $250 million + budget down to around $215 million, the cast around Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer remained pretty much intact. But now the picture has lost one of its major bad guys. Dwight Yoakam has dropped out of the picture, and insiders attribute it to a scheduling conflict.

The way they kept postponing everything, it's a miracle they have even half the cast left. That last two weeks was probably the final straw...he just got tired of all the waiting. Can't blame him.

I'm thinking that one day he is going to really regret not fixing his schedule to make it work so that he could do this.

So this is probably the cause of delay. We heard about new actors being casted last week, so probably if they had table reading yesterday he had been already chosen.

Ordinances, ‘The Lone Ranger’ discussed

Posted: Friday, Feb 17th, 2012
By Toni Steffens-Steward

CREEDE—The Creede Town Board heard from members of the community about the code enforcement policy and planning for the upcoming filming of “The Lone Ranger.”

Movie

Trustee Grossman updated the board on the upcoming movie production and when it will likely happen. There are currently two possibilities that will depend on the availability of talent. Initially, the production was supposed to take 10 days in May and now they may take up to 20 days in June.

Grossman said that he made it clear to the movie representatives that the canyon and road will have to be cleared by July 4. There will likely be a strict deadline in any contract for the movie, with steep additional costs if they go past the agreed-upon date without opening the road.

Ain't It Cool News

NIZ has something for us on THE LONE RANGER!!!

Published at: Feb 20, 2012 7:50:18 PM CST

Hey folks, Harry here with more coming from the set of THE LONE RANGER... The Jerry Bruckheimer/Gore Verbinski reimagining of THE LONE RANGER is a film that I'm very much looking forward to. Our spy Niz brought us the following - and I have to say - I love these location shots!

Hello Harry,
I am a past contributor. A few days ago I found the enclosed article from the Pueblo Colorado newspaper identifying the small mining town of Creede Colorado as a location for the Johnny Depp “Lone Ranger” movie. Some friends from Creede confirmed that the production company is renting most of the available hotel rooms in town this spring and summer (with Creede being a town of less than 300 people). The filming location is in a spectacular canyon with abandoned silver mines leaning precariously off the cliff edges. I enclosed a few photos. You probably remember from your Royal Gorge and Buckskin Joes rolling road show travels in Colorado that Creede was the town where the remaining members of Jesse James’s gang caught up with the coward Bob Ford and killed him. The filming location may very well be at the murder site. Hope this is useful.

By MIKE FLEMING | Wednesday February 22, 2012 @ 7:06pm EST

EXCLUSIVE: Disney has tapped William Fichtner to replace Dwight Yoakam in The Lone Ranger. He will play the bad guy that Yoakam was set to take on before the actor-singer dropped out Friday because of a scheduling conflict. Now Fichtner is in. He just completed filming Elysuim for Universal and MRC with Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, as well as Phantom opposite Ed Harris and David Duchovney. Fichtner, repped by Paradigm and Intellectual Artist Management, will make his directing debut with the indie Coldbrook after wrapping Lone Ranger.

Pretty excited about this, William was fantastic in Prison Break as FBI Agent Mahone, and he was the bank manager i the prologue to The Dark Knight, the bank that the Joker holds up :applause:

Wow - I remember way back when he was on As the World Turns. How wonderful for him - he has paid his dues in the business for a long time. :applause2:
