Ah, yes. Our fine protagonist always makes sure that he is known, by all and sundry, as CAPTAIN Jack Sparrow. His better nature usually almost always wins over his desires for money and riches. :cloud9:

I'm determined to read along, real time, this time. That said, I've just ordered the book today.

The tidbits wil get me going, though, and the weather will give me many opportunities to read.

I've never liked to highlight in my books, but I just may have to with this book. :-?

Why do libraries have to come last sometimes! I was glad to see that the city passed a recent bond to build a brand new one here! :bounce: According to our city council (and I won't capitalize them), the library is a non-revenue producing department. San Bernardino does have a crime problem and a v...

Talk about gutless and just because ONE parent put in a complaint..not even in writing....Sheesh :-O ..I could go on but I won't :capnjack: ..The book is definitely more on the edge than the film and Gilbert is not a sweet person as Johnny portrayed him..In fact,I didn't enjoy the book much at all....

Very nice quotes, Anna. I for one hope the publicity surrounding the removal of the book simply motivates more people to read it! Well of course, as soon as I read that, it made me want to read the book! (I bet my little local library won't have it though :-/ ) *trundles off to search...* I'll be o...

Happy Birthday ONBC! I grew up in a military family with all of the challenges and tribulations of uprooting far too often and beginning again in a whole new community. Books held my world together and also gave me new perspectives that wouldn't have been available to me otherwise. The ONBC has give...

I love to watch the Oscars, although I complained a lot last year. I think everybody who wins deserves their time on stage with a podium and all eyes forward! I've watched for as long as I can remember. My mom watches, too. I love to see what everybody wears and now I'm looking forward to seeing/hea...

Charlotte, your great-aunt sounds like my grandmother. Married at 14, a mom at 15, she bobbed her hair and dressed in the style of the day, even with a trio of little ones. I have some very interesting family photos and I remember Gramma teaching the Charleston to one of my cousins. For a long time,...
