Re: Mortdecai Colloquialisms

I marvel at everyone's patience here, because with that many words, it's almost like reading a book in a foreign language--frustrating, to say the least. It reminds me of when I read A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, and there was no such thing as Google or the internet to fall back on, since i...

Re: Black Mass Question #21 - Final Thoughts

I’d rather not go into too much detail here on a public forum, but will say this much: My dad was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio--as was I--and he later worked for the detective agency owned by the man who had planned and carried out the surprise bust of Dillinger and Mary Longnaker in the early 30...

Re: Black Mass Question #21 - Final Thoughts

Like a few others here, I, too, had never heard of the man until the rumors and blurbs started here on the Zone about Johnny possibly playing him in a movie. I’ve never seen anything about him online or in the news in my entire life, and I know others here in this area (southwestern Ohio) have never...

:agree2: Excellent comparison! And with the added bonus of being Johnny-related too! :ok:

Re: Just Kids Tidbit #23 - Gregory Corso

Wow! :-O That very first picture at the top of the post looks so much like a young Neil Young that I thought it was him. Was surprised to read on and see that it was someone else entirely! :spin:
I think Neil even had that exact same jacket, or one very similar.

Re: Just Kids Tidbit #17A - Manhattan Tour - Part 1

So we got to the apartment and prepared to go to the play when we found out that none of us knew where the Mustache was. Soooooo before I could stop her, one of the gals dialed the operator and said: "Hi, do you know where Your Fathers Mustache is?" I could hear the operator screaming obs...

Re: Just Kids Tidbit #4: Arthur Rimbaud

The big b&w pic of Rimbaud in the tidbit there is the same one that Johnny has in a frame on a desk or table in one of his residences, according to that book of Patti's--Woolgathering, I think it's called? It was mentioned here last year or whenever the book came out, along with the pic of Johnn...

Congrats, firefly! :bouquet: You've found your niche here, I know. :ok: I remember back a few years ago on another Depp board, where you tried valiantly several times to get intensive, meaty discussions going about JD-related topics (The Brave book and the Dead Man movie come to mind right at the mo...

Re: Life After Death Question #21: What's Your Playlist?

Cyn, I enjoyed your list and I was touched when I heard Karen Carpenter's voice. My DD loved Karen Carpenter, but I wasn't aware of that until after she passed. For several years, any time I heard Karen sing I would cry. I still get emotional when I hear her voice. So I suppose her music should go ...

^ I know the feeling--I just barely got through the first few chapters and BOOM--the discussion is over already. It seemed to go so fast and/or not last very long at all! WHOOOSH! Where did the time go?! I know it's never too late to comment on the books and answer the questions, but it seems like &...

Re: Life After Death Question #21: What's Your Playlist?

My first, miscellaneous list is the epitome of eclectic. And to post it here is akin to baring my soul. :shy: The first playlist is just a smattering (38 songs - almost 3 hours total  ) of my favorite songs and/or artists, that I ran around all over youtube rounding up to make this playlist t...

Anything new and different and out of the ordinary? Anything the opposite of mundane. Independent thought, free spirited-ness...freethinkers and doers...new, off-the-wall ideas..different ways of doing things. Different clothes, hairstyles, activities.
Unless he means actual magic, in this case.

Re: Life After Death Question #18 - Life After Prison

Comment on Lorri’s response to this interview question: he didn’t have practical knowledge of anything. So that, I wasn’t prepared for. And it took about six months for me to finally have this jarring epiphany that he isn’t capable of taking care of me or himself right now, and he’s struggling ever...
