Videos--Johnny at Joe Perry's Album Launch

Went back to listen to Eve of Destruction tonight on You Tube. Such a powerful version of the song. I remember when it came out, and how we felt then, so worried about friends. The feeling that our country was coming apart. I am so glad Joe has brought this song front and center. Made me cry actuall...

Videos--Johnny at Joe Perry's Album Launch

Really really fine music there meeps. Made my evening. If you watch nothing else, watch the Eve of Destruction track. Joe and Johnny together, so musically in sync. I think back to the days when Johnny would float in the background, like a shadow, and now he's holding his own at the center of the st...

Bad Press re Johnny appearing in Fantastic Beasts

I don't think there is any similarity between Johnny and any of the people accused of sexual abuse. Those accused were not married to or in an ongoing relationship with any of these women. They acted outside conventional limits. One does not sexually accost an employee, or a complete stranger, and b...

Bad Press re Johnny appearing in Fantastic Beasts

Sweeney, thank you for posting the link to that wonderful letter. Yeah, that's exactly how we feel, and we plan to stick to him, unite behind him, as long as he needs it.

Re: Johnny poses with a gift from fans celebrating his career

That is utterly amazing. Beautiful. It is always worth doing things that inspire you so much you can't think of anything else for days, weeks, until it is done. You and your friends did good work. And made a man happy.

Murder on the Orient Express Question #14 The Many Faces of Hercule Poirot

Always believable in his characters. Not sure though if they are very different but he is always earnest. Not one for disguising I suppose. His acting makes the character. :highfive: I do enjoy his films. I've been a fan of his for a long time. Me too. Well, I will definitely have to seek him out. ...

Murder on the Orient Express Question #21: Final Thoughts

I have to say that I particularly enjoyed having both the book and the movie to play with. The book alone would not have sustained me, so perhaps that means I need the modern draw also. I need a fresh look to open to something I think I already know sufficiently.

Murder on the Orient Express Question #17 Arbuthnot

I think both versions work. I am not absolutely certain one can't shoot a film that is totally in the past. But then, the movie that comes to mind for me is The Lone Ranger, which didn't get the audiences attention. At least in the US. I would guess that the primary instigating factor for changing t...

Murder on the Orient Express Question #20: Favorite Quotes?

There are lots of notes and underlinings in my book, but most of those were to keep track of clues and make note of words I needed to look up. :dunce: However I did find this one: " ... if you wish to catch a rabbit you put a ferret into the hole , and if the rabbit is there -- he runs. That i...

Murder on the Orient Express Question #15: Christie's Legacy

Amazing thing. My daughter came out of the movie telling me she wanted to read Agatha Christie. I explained that the movie was sort of an extended cream puff of the original, that burrowed in on all sorts of areas that hadn't been explored. Giving changes in Hubbard as the example. I will pass the b...

Murder on the Orient Express Question #9 the New Movie

Johnny's participation was a big factor for me. I love going to the movies, and there are at least 4 indie movie theaters within an hour's drive here. We are still too busy with other things to take the advantage we should. Incidentally, I brought me 22 year old with me. She was a stalwart Jack Spar...

Murder on the Orient Express Question #14 The Many Faces of Hercule Poirot

Yes, Branagh definitely pulled back on the weird side of Poirot. He doesn't seem so obsessed, so squirrely in his drive to unearth the mystery. I would say it makes a more contemporaneous figure, but I think he could have contrived a figure that included some of those odd ticks anyway. I must confes...

Murder on the Orient Express #16: Mrs. Hubbard - Who Is She?

I come down on the side of Michelle Pfeifer. But then I think it is wrong to compare the two. They are basically different women. I would love to know what Agatha would say. And I am not certain she wouldn't go with the updated Hubbard. Christie wrote for her audience, and that is what she would als...
