Re: Daniel Depp Q&A – Part 7 – What’s Next?

Hi Noodlemantras! Just wanted to pop in and say congratulations on the great Q&A with Daniel Depp! Real life has been keeping me pretty busy lately but I do want to come back and read the entire interview when I get some time! Carry on! :ok:

Re: ONBC is 10 years old today

:balloons: Where does the time go? So many great memories. I wouldn't trade the good reads and especially the good people I've come to know over the last ten years for anything! Thanks, Liz and all the administrators at the Zone for keeping ONBC on a roll. Congratulations on a job well done!! :hatso...

Re: Ann Crispin very ill – post messages to Ann here

Ann, I am so sorry to read this difficult news. I so enjoyed our conversations about your work and your interview with us regarding The Price of Freedom. Anytime we have the participation of an author for our discussion it is a highlight for ONBC. You have done so much for the writing community and...

Re: NORA GUTHRIE INTERVIEW - Part 6

I just read the whole interview in one sitting and you all did a wonderful job! I know it isn't easy to transcribe and edit an interview like this and you made us feel we right in the room with you. Nora had some wonderful insights that helped me appreciate and understand the book and her dad in a ...

Re: House of Earth Question #31 - Final Question

Being a Texan I knew something of this period of our history but not in detail. I could relate to the dust storm having lived in West Texas as a child. :fear: I did enjoy learning more about what the times were like for the people who lived through it. I agree the characters and setting were well d...

Re: House of Earth Question #30: A Radical Book

I agree, nebraska. I think it depends on your own beliefs and standards as well as the cultural standards of the time. The opening chapter could certainly still be seen as unpublishable in some circles, maybe not necessarily radical. I think socialism will always be debateable because of differing ...

Re: House of Earth Question #29 - Takeaways

I have to say that I enjoy Woody's music more than his prose. While he captured a place and a people in a moment of time that was historically significant, I think his message reached more people via his music. As an historical document I think it a very important work but I'm not sure if it had be...

Re: House of Earth Question #28: Hope

I like to think Ella May bought the land. As ladylinn said above she had her son to think of now as well. Whether they were able to make a go of their property or not it would have given them a lift and strengthened their resolve to carry on. As Tike said they couldn't get much lower. I do wonder i...

Well said, nebraska.
Liz, it was nebraska who first used the term pioneer spirit in this topic thread. So credit goes to her!

Re: House of Earth Question #26 - The Point

I agree nebraska. Showing how his bit of the world had been affected while at the same time trying to get the word out about the virtues of adobe. He succeeded in telling the story but he didn't make the popular impact he had hoped for.

Re: House of Earth Questions #26 - The American Spirit

I agree, nebraska. The insights of our non-American contributors have always been invaluable! Woody sang about and symbolized the oppressed and the have nots and their fight for dignity and understanding. I'm sure those conditions exist all over the world and the human spirit is alive and well in t...

Re: House of Earth Question #25 - Casting Question

As it is written now I don't see it as a film unless there were some changes. Hollywood would probably introduce a big, bad villain and have Tike and Blanche act on Tike's suggestion. I have never been good at our casting questions. The actor that I kept seeing as Tike was the man who played ...

Re: House of Earth Question #24: The Ear of a Playwright

I agree, GG. Some of it would work. Tike's dancing around and "chanting" the childbirth scene, the interaction between Blanche and Tike are some examples. I can see the scene between the two of them listening to the radio working with some tweeking. Overall, as written I don't see it as a...
