Re: Dillinger Question #14 ~ Film vs. Book

Hi all, After reviewing the film once, I am going to say for Mr. Mann: You needed to drive your characters in this film! I have Bryan Burrough's book in which it was great, but too broad for this film. Dillinger -The Untold Story would have been better to use because the film really revolved on Dill...

Re: Announcing the Zone's 2009 Birthday Project!

A great choice PTP ! I am sure that Johnny will again be overwhelmed by all of the generous donations from his admirers. He is a very lucky young man to be where he is today, but we are also blessed with his geniousity, thoughtfulness, and loving toward all the children in the world and the one pict...

Re: Loser's Town Question #4 ~ Spandau

David Spandau showed his morals, charm, and insecurities in the story. He stood up to Annie ( the rude and obnoxious) agent of Bobby Dye, and what a be crime boss Richie, but lost friends in trying to protect Bobby Dye. I liked the older brother/father figure of how Spandau had tried to protect the ...

Re: Loser's Town Question #2 ~ Sunset Boulevard

Good Morning, Daniel gives us a truthful descriptive of the area. Sunset Boulevard use to be a more glamorous area during the hay day of Hollywood. I was there just a few years ago noticing many changes in the area. Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive are nice, but the surroundings areas are not except fo...

Re: Loser's Town Tidbit #23 ~ John Cassavetes

John Cassavetes and Gena Rowland were one of the longest running actor/actress couples in Hollywood. Sadly John died at a young age. It's a small world do to their son Nick had a small part as well as listed on the writers in the film "Blow" (Johnny world).

Re: Loser's Town Tidbit #8 ~ Central Coast Tour

Liz,

I've just now starting reading Daniel's book. I have many memories of going to Aptos and Capitola Beaches near Santa Cruz. I use to in Menlo Park, Ca while attending Junior and Senior High School. I do miss living near the beach. It's warm and windy here today!

Re: Loser's Town Tidbit #10 ~ Inland Empire

Thanks Liz for those great pictures. I have been to many of those locations that you have mentioned. I had lived in California for most of my life except for the last few years. My mother grew up in Riverside during the depression and during WW2 in which the the area was filled with orange groves. U...

Re: 2009 with ONBC

I just purchased a copy of "Glass Books of the Dream Eaters" in hardback at my local 2nd hand book store. The price was right $8.00. I also have read "John Dillinger-the untold story" awhile back when Johnny was still shooting the film. A good book with the along side to "Pu...

I want to thank all the people from the zone who contributed to again a great children's charity. I want to thank all the admins & mods who put everything together. I think Johnny would love the hospital's motto "Helping kids being kids". He would enjoy seeing smiles on those children'...

My vote for Hoover: Phillip Seymour Hoffman, a great actor and could be a fit for the upcoming FBI leader. I think Hoover looked older than his 35 yrs of age. Does anybody have any guesses who may play Dillinger Sr? I would like to see someone like Robert Redford or maybe Warren Beatty ( who looks t...

That was a real nice and generous thing to offer a copy of PE to one of zoners who otherwise couldn't afford a copy or was unable to obtain one. I was going to say our zoners to check their local county or city library or I was able to obtain a copy of the book at my community college library, but I...
