Re: The Thin Man Question #3 ~ Nora Charles
I am learning a lot I missed in the book. Thanks ladies. While I missed the ages, it seemed Nick was older because Nora thought of him as worldly. I did think that Nora took Nicks shenanigans with the Wynant mother and daughter in her stride which seems unusual for her age. She did seem more sure of...

Re: The Thin Man Tidbit #7 - Why was the book so popular?
I downloaded it from e-pub and on my PC reader its page 159. Funny I missed the risqué part and I have the original printing. I must be reading too much modern fare. I just thought it was the references to going to New York to get drunk and the casual drinking that make it banned matierial during th...

Re: Life Question #28 ~ Final Thoughts
I certainly enjoyed the book. I have not always had something to add but have enjoyed hearing from those of you who knew a lot more of the background than I did. I really have to say about the Keith and Mick story that reading the book has not changed my feelings one way or the other about their dif...

Re: Life Question #20 - The Death of Scott Cantrell
As I've mentioned earlier I didn't like the way Keiths addiction affected his children but as unfair as it seems I blamed Anita more. Very old fashioned and sexist of me but I expect more from a woman when it comes to caring for their children. I may be expecting too much from someone with an addict...

Re: Life Question #19 ~ Image
You all make good points here. As you pointed out GG his image stays with him even though he changes. I think the celebrity thing lets so many photos of his life stay out there that its hard to not combine all the images when thinking of him. His reputation will stay no matter what he does now, it h...

Re: Life Question #13 ~ Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll
Surprised no, but maybe to the extent he went before kicking the habit. There must be something to having to hit bottom first. Money unfortunately seems to be the ticket to an expensive drug habit. I agree he doesn’t worry so much about the example to his young fans but does try to tell the low poi...

Re: Life Question #12 ~ The Times They Are A Changin'
I agree with what has already been said. I am close to Keiths age so I lived through the 60s. I felt the mood as Buster said. We were naïve enough to think we could change the world. I think the beginning was love not war with the drugs being LSD and marijuana and the music started more as folk song...

Re: Life Question #9 - Mayhem & Madness
Reading everyones thoughts leave me in agreement with much of what has already been said. I think the event being poorly planned and the Angels over aggressive crowd control was most of the problem. Yes, we don’t know what Meredith was going to do with the gun and I do wonder how another type of cro...

Re: Life Question #6 - Would you let your daughter marry this?
You’ve got the Beatles, mums love them and dads love them, but would you let your daughter marry this? I think at first the Beatles seemed like a very neat little group in their suits and it wasn’t until later we learned of the drugs and the yellow submarine etc. The Stones, on the other hand, came...

Yes I agree with what both of you ladies said. I think Keith was into the musical part more than the performance but Mick must have thought his personal performance as front man was more the drawing card. A bit of competition there.

Re: Life Question #4 ~ Old Haunts
Like Jackslady, I have looked at my old home on google earth and hardly recognize the place. The green has overgrown the building and wasn’t there when I was young. We have been looking at where our grandparents farm was and it has all been built over by highways. Keith was lucky there was a place t...

Re: Life Question #1 ~ Impressions
Sorry I’m late, life interfering again and I was looking forward to the start of this discussion. I can't say I was a groupie but I always picked a favorite of every group and for the Stones it was Keith. I knew vaguely about Keiths life but not being as familiar as some of you, this was very inform...

When I read this I wondered about Net (Neuro Electric Therapy) and the photo of the machine looks very much like my EMG machine for Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation. Both seem to make a little electrical charge. I don’t know if I would want it near my head, I wonder if they are different voltage...
