I'm such a sucker. I just ordered this book from Amazon UK. Forget that I could have had it for about 1/2 the price by buying it from Amazon US, and that Johnny's foreword will most likely be available on the Zone. It will be worth it as soon as the book arrives! PhD - I just received a not...

Re: WEGG Question #6 ~ The Party

It is a kind of culmination of all that our family is.” Gilbert thinks, “If Amy only knew the truth of that statement.” What is the importance of Arnie’s birthday and his celebrations? I'm late in responding to the questions, so this has probably already been said, but here it goes anyway: The part...

No, the one in the picture isn't the one near my hometown. I can't find a picture of that one. :-/

Clanton, Alabama is known for its peaches, and I think they have a peach water tower, too.

Re: WEGG Question #2 - Living

Do you agree or disagree with Gilbert’s statement? Being born is not an option (or at least not an option that I'm aware of), but living life is an option. It's cheesy, but your life really is what you make of it. So, while you can't choose whether to be born, you can choose whether to live once yo...

:snoopydances: Hooray! The first question! I backtracked a little in the book before the passage mentioned. It seems that Becky has been in town a bit and the men are staring at her, and probably passing judgement on her based entirely on her physical appearance. In fact, Gilbert tries to find fault...

Thanks for the information!

I like the walkways. We have a couple of those here, but it's to keep people from getting hit by a car when crossing busy streets.

There's a water tower in the shape of a peach near my hometown, and one about an hour south of where I live now.

I always wanted to climb a water tower, but haven't been brave enough yet.

Thanks, Liz! I have a new respect for my flight attendants now. I never thought about how their real purpose is our safety, but they spend most of their time serving snacks and picking up our trash. :-/ That must be frustrating.
