Sailing with Mr. Gibbs -POTC event in Holland- (without Johnny)

A POTC-event takes place in The Netherlands on August 4th: sailing a day on a historic ship with 'real' pirates on board - including Mr Gibbs, Mr. Cotton, Giselle and Scarlett and the harbour-master (the real actors, no impersonators). They will walk around the ship to meet the guests, available for...

Just won...

Great that you chose a cause which Johnny publicly supported. A wonderful way to celebrate Johnny's birthday, in his spirit, and a pleasure to be able to give a little bit in return to everything he gives us.
Happy 48, Johnny ! :flashingheart:

Re: Film-link re-release of The Rum Diary book

Just now I received my copy of the German issue from Amazon.com. It has an 8-pages afterword by Johnny: it's the exact translation of his introduction to GONZO, The Life of HUNTER S. THOMPSON, from 2007. (Johnny's beautifully written text, beginning with “Buy the ticket, take the ride.” ) It's in th...

Re: The Final Autumn Author

Heartbreaking beautiful ! I was just thinking of how important ES had been for Johnny (and for us !) when looking at Edward's costume at the MoMA exhibition (it's a glimpse in one of the videoclips). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v148/Chero/Depp/Temp/th_e1.jpg Johnny writes with so much feeling....

Re: Loser's Town Question #32 ~ The Final Answer

I could have enjoyed the book as an entertaining detective story. A nice read. The kind of book you read on a holiday. But I could not forget that this book was written by Johnny's brother . That's the reason I bought/read it - as I assume many other people will do. People who do not know Johnny as ...

Re: Loser's Town Question #20 ~ Style

Now that I finished reading the book I must correct myself. I liked the writing style in the last part of the book better than the first part. It's a book you don't easily put aside and that's a compliment to the writer.

Re: Loser's Town Question #20 ~ Style

I haven't finished the book completely yet, am at about 2/3rd, and I am reading the Dutch translation. That might make a difference in the 'strong' language, to me it doesn't sound that excessive, even if somewhat contrived now & then. I do like the descriptions of situations and surroundings (n...
